How to Play Dartle

Dartle is a daily category puzzle. You name up to three different accepted entries. Each reveals a value from the category. Reach exactly 100 for a bullseye; you do not have to use all three darts. Going over scores zero, and Stand keeps a non-bust total.

I learned that by playing issue 26, not by guessing from the dartboard art. The board in the middle of dartle.net shows a 20 at the top. That 20 is decoration. My points came from Super Bowl numbers: 27, then 30, then 43.

What a throw is worth

The official example uses U.S. presidents by number: Washington 1, Lincoln 16, and Obama 44 add to 61. Rank 1 is worth 1. That example is not a winning 100. It only shows that the value is the index, not the year.

Exactly 100 is a bullseye. Going over 100 scores 0. If a bullseye is out of reach, Stand keeps your current total, and a higher non-bust total is better than a lower one. You do not have to use all three darts. Each accepted entry can be used only once.

Ties and the clock

Higher score wins; when scores are equal, fewer darts wins. A two-dart 100 beats a three-dart 100. Our issue 26 research recorded that a two-dart checkout was possible, but did not identify that combination.

A new category starts at midnight in your timezone. This site pins its “today” label to Eastern Time so the issue number on the page does not drift with the reader’s clock. Checked 2026-10-24.

Questions

What is a dartle?

A daily trivia board. You name entries from one category. Each entry is worth its number or measure. Up to three of them must add to exactly 100.

How do you play Dartle?

Read the category and the unit. Submit an entry. Its value is added. You may Stand to keep the total, or keep throwing until you hit 100 or bust.

Is Dartle free?

The daily board on dartle.net is free in the browser, with no account or app required. As of 24 Oct 2026, the official archive is a one-time US$5 purchase, not a subscription, with a personal restore code for up to five browsers or devices.

What happens if you go over 100?

You bust and score 0. On some days a redemption entry that is itself worth exactly 100 can still win. Issue 26 had no redemption.

Can you stop before 3 darts?

Yes. After any accepted dart, Stand keeps the total you already have. Reaching exactly 100 ends the round, even in one or two darts. Fewer darts wins a tie, so a two-dart 100 beats a three-dart 100.

When does the new puzzle start?

dartle.net rolls the board at midnight in your own timezone. This site’s dated pages use Eastern Time so the issue number stays stable.

Is there a Dartle app?

The official dartle.net page says its daily puzzle needs no app: play it in a browser. The Google Play game by Den Media and the older iBeacon Locator on Apple’s App Store are separate products with the same name.

Why does the board show 20?

The dartboard is a picture. Your score comes from the category value, not from the 20 at the top of the board.

Can I use the same answer twice?

No. Each accepted entry can be used only once in a round. Two different entries may share a value, so check the remaining gap rather than assuming every number must be unique.
